For almost 20 years, CCHA has had a special ear for piano recitals and (jazz) concerts by internationally renowned artists such as Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Randy Newman, Agnes Obel, Vijay Iyer, Max Richter…
In the past decade, there has been a remarkable resurgence of piano music composed by young classical (inspired) musicians. This was the inspiration for the first Piano_anders in 2011, featuring Nils Frahm, Dustin O’Halloran, and Hauschka, a lineup that remains unmatched. After six editions, we expanded our focus to all aspects of ‘piano music’ with Piano day(s). We also linked the festival to the international Piano Day at the end of March, on the 88th day of the year (corresponding to the number of keys on the instrument).
“Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers, and most importantly, the listener.” – Nils Frahm
After six editions of Piano_anders and five editions of Piano day(s), with a ‘back to basics’ season featuring a single (post)classical concert evening in 2024, Piano day(s) is once again on the calendar. In 2025, we are preparing for a series of fascinating music concerts and a special collaboration with knst.
Listing of the 10 music concerts, source content, and associated rights are reserved for CC Hasselt; see page Piano day(s) | cultuurcentrum Hasselt
