Beau Séjour Lanklaar

Creating a unique holiday together!

After last year’s success, Horizont vzw and Avansa Limburg continue their collaboration. Once again, there is no pre-planned programme — this is a holiday that you and the group shape together!

Avansa’s Club Cultuur makes culture accessible to everyone. Since 2019, participants in various groups have been exploring the cultural offer in their region and jointly creating programmes filled with excursions, exhibitions and performances. Last year, we tried this concept on holiday — and this year, we are building on that success.

Stay at the nostalgic Hotel Beau Séjour

For the 2026 edition, we will stay at Hotel Beau Séjour in Lanklaar. This charming two-star hotel, dating back to 1906, is located along a picturesque canal and next to the Oude Kanaalarm nature reserve. It is the oldest tourist hotel in Limburg.
The hotel offers 20 cosy double rooms with television, comfortable bathrooms and wireless internet. We stay on a full-board basis: breakfast and dinner are served at the hotel, and a packed lunch is provided for the afternoon.
Hotel Beau Séjour is the ideal base to discover both the cultural and natural treasures of the Maasland region.

How do we travel?

We travel by (electric) bicycle — sociable, environmentally friendly and perfect for short distances. Don’t have your own bike? You can rent one through us at Fietsparadijs Limburg.
No need to worry about your luggage — it will be transported to the hotel by minibus.
If you are unable to cycle to and from the destination, please contact us so we can look for a solution together. During the holiday itself, participants are expected to join the group for cycling transfers.

We create the programme together

Our aim is to develop a programme that combines culture, nature and tourist highlights. Possible ideas include:

Cultural highlights:
Historic towns such as Thorn, known for its white-painted houses; Maaseik with its Pharmacy Museum, Regional Archaeological Museum and the Treasury of Saint Catherine. A visit to Saint Lambert’s Church in Neeroeteren, featuring late Gothic art and paintings.

Nature and walks:
Cycling along the River Meuse on flat roads; walking in Hoge Kempen National Park; exploring the Negenoord-Kerkeweerd nature reserve; or an adventure in Terhills with its forests, lakes and former mining hills.

Culinary experiences:
Taste the typical “Knapkoek” biscuit or a delicious slice of Limburg pie, and enjoy cosy terraces along the route. Your ideas make the difference! Do you have a suggestion for an excursion or activity? Share it with the group so we can create a varied and inspiring programme together. This truly becomes your holiday — shaped collectively.
